The APCOM annual conference has moved to a new late summer slot. This means you should have loads of high quality work you simply can't wait to nominate for a prestigious awards. Only work completed between 30th March 2012 and 31st July 2013 is eligible for entry. Thats 16 months of work you have to choose from, we are expecting a bumber batch of nominations this year. APCOM President, Graham Lowe has entered the Print Week Power 100 list this year.   Graham said, 'I make no bones about this but to say I feel a wee bit embarrassed as there are far more deserving individuals within APCOM than me. Wigan Council - Document Solutions have been working with the BPIF for nearly 4 years in the recruitment and training of apprentices. Our first two apprentices, Tom and Dom, completed their NVQ level 3 training in January 2012. A third apprentice did not work out and he left the organisation before completing his training. Dom decided to seek pastures new in November 2012 but Tom has since been promoted to head up the finishing team at the Council and is now responsible for training two new apprentices who started in March 2013, Dale and Andrew. John Price i.e. me, is looking for members who would like to work on a project to offer web-2-print services for their clients. Our initial focus is on schools but the technology can work with any client. The idea is to use an externally hosted service to provide the web portals that can be accessed by your clients. There is the potential to share products and services between members. What works for a school in Wigan will work for any school. Our trusty old web site has gone and we have a new style and functional web site in its place. For those technical folks its built on a Concrete5 platform that offers CMS functionality to allow the Exec to maintain the content far easier than before. We have used an external contractor, Twisted Creative, to build the web site and get it operational. They will also manage hosting and technical support.
